More from Watch 2008
Well, to continue a bit more on my visit to Watch2008 in December I decided to post some more pictures (apart from the highlighted ones I did already here and here).
Blancier – The Crazy Planet
I already mentioned the Blancier watches (the worldtimer) and another interesting thing they had to show was called “The Crazy Planet”. I took a picture of it as best I could under the lighting circumstances. Here it is:
Now, the interesting thing about this watch is that it doesn’t have a conventional gear inside the movement to make the hour hand go around. Instead, the hour hand is turned by a planetary gear which you can see on the minute hand in the picture. So the driving gear for the hours is actually in front of the dialface….nice huh?
Christaan van der Klaauw – Ariadne
Another interesting display was found at my “friend” (I don’t actually know him but I love his work so he is my friend
) Christaan van der Klaauw. He had a watch called the Ariadne on display featuring a beautiful grey finished face. It kind of attracted my attention, can you understand why?
Sorry about the image quality, again the lighting was poor and the sun reflected harshly in the display cases.
So in fact the face looks a bit brown-ish grey while in reality it was a stunning shade of grey, trust me.
Here’s another picture of this watch that show’s it’s grey face:
Matchup
On the subject of car/watch match ups, I think the grey Ariadne would look great on me if I were driving this baby:
LOL, all different subject I know but I just loved the shot. Sorry.
What do you guys think of my matchup?
-Vincent

Hi Vincent
Great post, as usual!
I love the Blancier “Crazy Planet”. I totally dig the hour hand being driven by the planetary gear
. Totally gratuitous, and cool
. I have to see these watches in real life… I think I’m a huge fan. How big is this watch, btw?
Also, the AMG F1 Safety car and Ariadne matchup is perfect! The silver arrow and the silver face watch go great together!
I don’t like MB, but that car is pretty cool
.
Take care,
Nazmul.
HeHe, as a BMW man I’m not supposed to like MB’s either but this model (specifically the F1 prepped one of course) kind of appeals to me.
Anyway, I don’t mean to complain, the picture you added is great but it is actually the white face
The gray one I saw was quite a bit darker. I’ll try to get an image of one that shows the color better, although I have no idea if I can find it anywhere.
I’ll try though.
Actually the website has one butit looks more like black than it did in reality. But I’m pretty sure that the image of the Rosegold version (ariadne_3_l.jpg) is the right one. But again, it looks more like black but in reality its actually quite dark grey.
Hi Vincent,
How does it look now? Sorry about putting the wrong pic there
. The stainless steel is nice too and it almost looks like the face could be light silver but now that i look at it again on the website, i can see the difference. I like the gold and grey best
Wow what a watch!!!
.
Hi Vincent, thanks for the correction, and sorry about that… it was actually me, who messed up with that one… not Izabel
. I will email the next time before making changes
.
Take care
Nazmul.
You guys worry too much. I didn’t mind the picture at all, it’s a great watch no matter what the color of the face is
But cool that you changed it. I love the contrast of the orange numerals on the grey. Thanks for putting it up.
Thank you for your kind words Vincent
.
Thank you for posting
. Thanks for your patience
.
Take care,
Nazmul.
Don’t feel bad for your MB love…or that you are cheating on your BMW by having eyes for MB. It’s ok
. You are in love with a very high class MB too, the F1 prepped one, so if you are going to be brand-unfaithful that would be the car to do it with, LOL. I am the same way…while i love Porsche, I have much love for MB, Aston, and even the Mercedes G Wagon…please don’t think less of me for liking an SUV…
.
lol, not actually cheating, I was just looking…..Just ’cause I’m on a diet doesn’t mean I can’t look at a menu right?
If I were to drive a Benz for real it would be the AMG F1 if I had money to burn, the CLS if the bank trusted my credentials enough, the new C-class if my boss started paying me right and some 1970’s E-class if I changed my mind tomorrow
Oh don’t worry about your love for an SUV, being the father of two I drive a Renault Megane Grand Tour (stationwagon) as a daily car.

What can I say, sometimes evil drives a minivan….. (anyone guess where that quote came from?)
Hahahaha
. That’s funny “just cause I’m on a diet, doesn’t mean I can’t look at a menu”
. I have to remember that line
.
The CLS is a nice car… I love the looks of the 4dr coupe design
. Very pretty!
Your Renault looks like a neat car… I wish they sold Renaults in the US… I love the Renaultsport Clio V6
. And the Focus RS
.
Take care,
Nazmul.
Hi Vincent,
You are so silly
. heheheheh, it is ok to look at the menu, I agree. You should tell your boss you need a raise, tell him you are Vincent “Bimmer” aka Big B and he is crazy for not promoting you, he clearly doesn’t understand your talents!!
. He doesn’t know that, on the side, you are in the Porsche protection business and what a valuable service you provide to the world.
I like your station wagon, its pretty nice looking. It is actually pretty sporty
. At least its not an SUV.
This car’s not the “typical” MB — it’s been Hammered up — the ultimate lead sled.
