OK, first off: I’m not a girl
.
Also I hope I don’t drive like one. (In the proverbial sense of it of course, the term “driving like a girl” has lost most of it’s merrit IMHO if I look at the women in my own social circle.)
However, the matching of apparel to one’s transportation, which might be considered a girl thing, appeals to me. Therefore I would like to poll the collective mind here at DriveLikeAGirl.com to get some suggestions.
What kind of watch should I be wearing while driving this:
For your information, it is a 1974 BMW 3.0 CS Automatic <—-hint?
My first idea was to wear something like this:
(A Tissot classic model from Switzerland to match the BMW classic model that was originally delivered to Switzerland).
but I would love to hear suggestions from all of you.

Hi Vincent,
Welcome to the DLG community. I made my first post yesterday
. I too am not a girl
. I think Izabel’s perspective is refreshing
. I find that there’s a lack of women drivers in motorsports, and that’s sad. When you say women in motorsports, most people think of flag girls. While I don’t have any issues with flag girls, why can’t there be female drivers, as well as flag girls? For a variety of reasons women don’t get encouraged to participate in motorsports, and I think that’s detrimental to the sport. It’s the 21st century, and the values of motorsports are not quite up to date yet. For eg, the first non-white F1 champion happened this year. Not to mention the first black president of the US. Humans are making progress in many parts of the world, moving into the 21st century. As I write this, I’m also aware that lots of people don’t even have running water, or basic health care, or even basic human rights. We are lucky to be in an environment where we can indulge our passions. But I digress…
Also, the notion that women are bad drivers is silly. I’ve seen many humans that are horrible drivers, regardless of gender or race… if I were to do a statistical sampling, I would say the worst drivers I’ve personally encountered were the elderly (regardless of gender), no disrespect. And really young drivers (regardless of gender), again no disrespect. Just because someone has a pair doesn’t make them any more or less capable behind the wheel. You need a lot more than balls to control a car, especially a powerful one
.
Your CS is a pretty special car. Congratulations! I love the BMW E9 CS. While your Tissot choice is great, I would suggest the IWC Portuguese (on the right) to go with the car.
Have fun with the CS

Very nice car Vincent, i like the color too. Have you thought of putting a red band on your Tissot to match? That might look good if it is dark enough. That is my professional Drivelikeagirl suggestion for you.
.
I don’t think it is necessarily a girl thing, to want to match cars and watches together, i just happened to be a girl that likes to do that
So don’t feel bad, i think it just means you have style and taste, which is a good thing! It is sad that some women drive so bad, but i truly think there are just as many bad men drivers too, but that is just my opinion.
Nazmul,
I agree, old people are terrible drivers!
. Esp ones in Buicks. Also, anyone who drives a mini-van is a bad driver too, I think it must be a requirement for buying a van, you have to pass a test to prove you have no idea what you are doing
. Oh and then there are SUV drivers, omg…(of course the Porsche Cayenne doesn’t count). Ok I will stop ranting now, this post is about Vincent, not my hate for bad drivers
. LOL
Izabel
I only have 2 comments:
1) Wait for the BMW X6 M (I drove the V8 not too long ago and that thing can GO – the M version will be fast).
2) On the watch/car combo, I’d go the the other direction and match the band to the interior of the car. I applaud the Tissot choice as I am currently a BMW + Tissot boy myself. One of us. One of us. One of us…
Hi Sul
Superior Watch service does a really good job servicing and repairing watches; I’ve only heard good things about them, but haven’t used them myself (yet).
Can you post your driving impressions of the X6? I’ve never driven one myself. As far as big/heavy cars go, the best ones I’ve driven are the Cayenne, S, and Turbo. I’ve been on the track with them too
. Along side 911s
. They move pretty quick, and are very composed around corners… but they show their heft when braking… ludicrously long braking zones, despite the huge brakes that they have, and big sticky rubber…
Take care
Nazmul.
Sul,
The X6!! EWWWW. I’m sorry but that car is so ugly, it looks confused, I can’t tell which is the front and which is the back, it is all over the place. It’s too big also! I mean if you have like 5kids maybe but if you want power, why an SUV? What about a Porsche Cayenne, it is not an SUV, it is like a really big Boxster/3 series cross. No attributes of an SUV just the size.
What about the S6, those are nice looking and big too. Maybe it is just me but i am a car sizeist, i dont like really big cars
hehe
The watch band/interior thing is VERY stylish. I bet you could do some nice combo with the Audi interiors, they have THE best interiors. I want the dark red color in my 911
ok ok ok,
i like this big car. But its the ONLY one, so ok there, i admit it
I dont know why i like it, it’s a weakness, a character flaw if you will
LOL
A G-Wagon… nice! Those thing have been around forever. I just looked on cars.com and they had a bunch in the 20’s from 02 and 03… If you have friends in the middle east or central america, you can get a machine gun mount.
Thanks for the watch repair referral – I’ll take a look and post some before/after.
On the X6, I’ll post a separate article here, if it is ok with Izabel. I drove both the V6 and V8 versions along side a number of other BMW’s.. Maybe make it my little “08-09 BMW series review”.
Hi Sul
I hope Superior Watch service works out for you. Lots of dealers use them as well. What I’ve heard is that they do great work, but you might have to wait a while to get the watch back.
Looking forward to the X6 reviews! Thanks
.
Take care
Nazmul.
